We had a lovely week at Gites at Civray. the gites surround a central area with a covered communal space with overhead projector and screen.
We stayed in Ciel (sky), the view from the upstairs deck across the valley is superb. The gite was really clean when we arrived and included a few essentials (France is famously shut on a Sunday) which included pasta and pesto, milk, tea, coffee and sugar. The fully equipped kitchen with fridge, dishwasher and gas hob & oven meant we only ate out once during the week.
There is plenty of parking and as I write this (June '18) the pool is waiting to be installed (it arrived the week we were there)
We spent the week exploring the area venturing to Tours (50k) to visit some chateaux as well as Loches (a beautiful Royal town) and Azay le Ferron both superb local towns with a fantastic history. Every town we drove through was 'typically French'.
As a cyclist I was delighted to find the roads not only quiet but also in fantastic condition that puts roads in the UK to shame.
The local town of La Celle Guenand has a small epicerie that shares space with the town's bar (very handy) and Chez L in Le Grand-Pressigny does a short but excellent food menu.
Thanks to Jenny and Steve for their warm welcome and the very best of success in their venture.
